What to Do if Your Website is Blocked: Brief Guide to Movement

Blocking of online casino websites is a serious challenge for webmasters. It can be solved only by moving to another domain. Our guide explains how to implement this.

1. Register a new domain

Register a new domain

What you should do first is to register a new domain for movement. It’s up to you to decide whether to use a new domain name or a dropped one. You have to make sure that you have a full list of URL addresses on the previous website in order not to lose anything while shifting.

Afterwards, you should completely delete or replace any links pointing at a 404 page. Besides, specialists recommend to update all links pointing at redirect pages: they should lead only to new pages.

2. Outload all data from the old website

To fill out a new website, you should outload all kinds of content from the old one. It is better to shift every single file to an individual folder on your PC. There are various methods to do this: via FTP or via an integrated file manager on the hosting service. Then outload the MySQL database: enter phpMyAdmin from the hoster’s billing panel and connect to the database of the required website.

3. Assess the traffic condition

Assess the traffic condition

Copy your Google Analytics data. It will allow you to determine whether some traffic is lost after movement.

If it is lost, export Analytics data from your new website and conduct a parallel comparison with data from the previous website. Primarily, the traffic loss happens on certain pages rather than on the whole resource.

You can also define the most popular pages using Ahrefs. After movement, you have to pay special attention to these pages and thoroughly monitor them.

If they lose traffic, it means that data is not rendered from the old website properly. With these pages mainly affecting the website position in search hits, the traffic loss can have a negative impact on the overall efficiency of the resource.

4. Import data into the new website

The data import is a pretty simple thing: plug-in settings frequently allows to accomplish this automatically. You should open the Import tab in the phpMyAdmin database of the new website, choose a file with PC data, and activate the process by the Go button. If you dump from the same hosting service, you don’t have to change settings.

Content outloading on the new hosting service is carried out in a similar manner, via FTP or via an integrated file manager. Take into account that this process can require a good deal of time.

5. Update all internal links

Update all internal links

HTML links should point at the new website instead of the old one. It may seem obvious, but surviving the entire moving process, you will immediately feel a strong desire to leave links unchanged, as they will anyway redirect to the new URL. However, do not give in to this temptation. Apart from the server load reducing the website capacity, redirects can weaken your PageRank.

A perfect way to overwrite links is to perform the search and replace operation in your database. The operation should be implemented so that the domain name will be updated without changing the folder structure (if you keep the structure of your website the same). You should carefully record search and replace operations in order to update only URL texts.

! Make sure that links are not duplicated

Publication of two URL versions results in content duplication. If URL canonization is adjusted correctly, you won’t face such a problem. Nevertheless, experts recommend to install the rules of link redirection to .htaccess to make a single page version be available. Make sure that all links are agreed to avoid redirecting from internal links.
